What's the Difference Between Angelic Reiki and Usui Reiki?
There are thousands of different healing modalities around the world. Some are based on homeopathic methods. Others use essential oils (a.k.a. aromatherapy). Then there is a wide variety of energy-based healing methods. One of the most known types of energy healing practices is Reiki. Under this umbrella method, among other forms, are Angelic Reiki and Usui Reiki.
What exactly is the difference between Angelic Reiki and Usui Reiki? Let's explore.
It's all about healing with energy
Reiki has many subdivisions, including Karuna Reiki. "Karuna" widely translates to compassion. It is part of the spiritual path of Buddhism and Judaism. Kundalini Reiki is another offshoot modality. In this modality, healing energy is channelled through the base chakra at the bottom of the tailbone. This takes off from the traditional way of channelling through the crown chakra, which is located at the top of the head.
All the approximate 25 subdivisions of Reiki use the original teachings developed by the Japanese Buddhist monk Dr. Mikao Usui. He originated the modern Reiki practice.
Through Reiki, an individual can confront the underlying cause of their illness. This can help them address the source of the problem. Many people have had life-changing experiences as a result of a successful Reiki treatment. It can even be safely channelled to help animals and children.
Now let's talk about the two most popular modalities of Reiki: Usui Reiki and Angelic Reiki. Usui Reiki adheres as closely as possible to the original teachings of Dr Usui. On the other hand, Angelic Reiki was rediscovered in 2002 to 2003 with a less traditional approach. It was then developed by Kevin and Christine Core.
Both methods of energy healing share many elements. They both use sacred symbols. There are also similar elements in the attunement process. However, they are totally different in technique and execution.

People wishing to learn an energy healing practice undergo this process. They have to go through a mixture of ancient rituals and meditations. The goal of the process is for students to get attuned to the energy that they will be working with as a channel for Reiki.
The attunement process for Usui Reiki and Angelic Reiki is markedly different. In Usui Reiki at the practitioner level, the process is facilitated by a Reiki master. During attunement, the student learns to use individual symbols to target specific areas and methods of healing.
On the other hand, the attunement process for students of Angelic Reiki happens without help from a teacher. Instead, it's a self-attunement where the student invokes their own angel.
The symbols used in Reiki are sacred. In fact, only recently have they been allowed to be shared on such a wide scale. In the days of Dr. Usui, students would be shown the symbols once and then expected to memorise and utilise them from there. So students of Usui Reiki created many interpretations of the sacred symbols. Examples of these symbols are Power, Harmony, Distance, Master, and Completion.
Angelic Reiki uses symbols, too. Some of them are even the exact ones utilised in Usui Reiki. However, the practitioner is not expected to memorise them. In Angelic Reiki, the symbols are anchored within the energy field of the user. When necessary, they are activated automatically.
Usui Reiki uses at least 12 hand positions during a treatment. Also, to treat patients, the practitioner will generally place their hands slightly above the body to channel from a distance of a few inches. They do this to treat certain areas of the body such as the heart, stomach, and genital area (where the base chakra is).
Angelic Reiki uses fewer hand positions. Some practitioners simply place their hands on the shoulders of a client and channel energy from this position throughout the duration of the treatment. Others just place their left hand just above the heart around the top of the sternum and the right hand around the solar plexus.
The frequencies of Usui Reiki and Angelic Reiki energies are totally different from a practitioner point of view. Yet, both styles facilitate deep healing on many levels. It's the same reason why there is no way to ascertain whether one form is more or less effective than the other. There have been a multitude of successful treatments using each respective modality.
